Arun Ghosh is a British-Asian clarinettist, composer and music educator, perhaps the hottest new star of the British Jazz scene, with Indo and clarinet-led jazz.
Conceived in Calcutta, bred in Bolton, matured in Manchester and now living in London, Arun Ghoshs musical vocabulary and vision reflects his rich geographical heritage. His latest album, 'Primal Odyssey', represents the continual exploration of Indo-Jazz from an iconoclastic approach to the possibilities of clarinet-led sounds.
Ghosh released his critically acclaimed debut album 'Northern Namaste' in 2008 on camoci records and was featured as the cover musician on the September 2011 edition of Jazzwise, the UKs biggest selling jazz musician. In 2008, Ghosh was selected for Edition IV of the Jerwood/PRS Foundation 'Take Five' initiative for emerging jazz musicians produced by Serious and in 2009, he was invited to perform at the jazzahead! Festival in Bremen, Germany as part of the UK showcase presented by Jazz Services. In 2010, he was made an Associate Artist at The Albany Theatre, London a position still held and in April 2011, Ghosh was made an Artist-in-Residence for the Southbanks Alchemy Festival. Ghosh is one of the BT Celebrity Storytellers for London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics documenting the story of the London Games through using all media available by blogging, social networking, and through visual and performance arts.
This Poole debut for Arun and his fantastic band represents a real coup for Lighthouse. Early booking advised!

fiery music
variously delicate and rousing, reflects the profusion, the contradiction and the exhilaration of multicultural urbanity. METRO
